BEFORE YOU NEED TO ASK

HERE ARE SOME ANSWERS

Read our FAQs for immediate answers on all things ski/snowboard lessons and what you need to prepare.

  • One instructor can take up to six people in a lesson.

For groups larger than six people you will need to book a second instructor.

  • No, all our classes are private classes for individuals or groups.

We will never add other people to your class from outside of your group.

  • Skiers and snowboarders must book separate lessons.

We have both ski and snowboard instructors at RIDE Nozawa, so you can get the most out of your lessons.

  • In order to get the best out of your lesson we recommend that you don’t mix levels. Instead, book separate lessons for each level. You will get a lot more from your lesson if you do this!

Your instructor will teach to the lowest ability, so more advanced riders may not get the attention they need to progress if they are mixed in with beginners.

  • Yes, we require that all participants of lessons wear a helmet.

Skiing and snowboarding are extreme sports and to ensure your safety on the mountain we ask that you wear a helmet at all times while in your lesson.

Remember, it doesn’t matter how good you are, someone else could cause an accident!

Helmets are available to rent in various shops. We can assist you in finding the right one should you require it.

  • You will need a full set of waterproofs ideally insulated for skiing, gloves, goggles, long socks and thermals.

We recommend wearing extra layers as the top of the mountain can be very cold and windy compared to the base.

If you do not have waterproofs, gloves and goggles, it is possible to rent them in certain shops on the mountain - however they are prone to running out in busy periods!

  • If you are running late to your lesson please let us know either by email us, or if you are staying in one of our hotels contact the Front Desk who will then contact your instructor.

Our instructors will wait half an hour after which point if we have not heard from you, it will be treated as a “no show”.

In the event of a no show your lesson will be cancelled without refund.

  • All ages from 6+

Got an under 6 in your group? Let us know when making an enquiry. It is possible depending on the ability level of the child that we may be able to take them in a lesson.

  • We teach all levels and abilities.

Not sure which level you are? Take our quiz now to find out.

  • Yes, we always check your ability at the start of the lessons.

This is to ensure that we don’t take you anywhere you are uncomfortable and so that we can help you progress as effectively as possible

  • We offer a concierge style service, meaning we can meet you at a location that suits you*.

We have various meeting points on the mountain and will help you decide which is the best one for you.

*hotel pick up is for full day and morning classes only

  • Yes, we can absolutely help you with rentals and lift passes.

Our concierge service means your instructor can help you with every step of the process. This is a great option if it’s your first time skiing and you’d like a bit of extra help getting slope ready.

  • No, lunch is not included.

If you have booked a full day lesson, there is a one hour lunch break to allow you to grab a delicious meal on the mountain and get some well deserved rest - just don’t forget lunch money!

Of course, should you wish to spend time with your instructor over lunch you’re more than welcome to invite them to join you.

  • Yes, you are required to pick up your kids for lunch.

Our instructors are not able to stay with them over lunch as they need a break too! Our instructors will arrange a time and place to meet at the start of your lesson.

  • No, you will need to purchase a lift ticket.

This can be done before your lesson, or our instructors can guide you through the process at the start of your lesson.

  • No, as a first timer you will spend the first part of your lesson at the beginner slope where a lift pass/ticket is not required.

Depending on how you progress, if/when you are ready to move on to the bigger slopes, your instructor will advise you on which ticket to purchase.

The ticket office is conveniently placed next to the beginner’s area, so this shouldn’t take more than a few minutes and will save you from buying a ticket you might not use.

  • No, you will need to rent equipment before your lesson starts. Or we can help you with this at the beginning of your lesson.

If you would like advice on where to rent from please let us know when making an enquiry and we will be happy to guide you to the one best suited to your needs.

  • Lift’s are open from 8:30 and begin closing around 15:20, with the last gondola back down to the bottom closing at 15:50pm.

After this point you will need to ski down to the bottom - so be careful when managing your time if you don’t feel able to ski all the way down.

Your instructor will plan your lesson based around these timings and your ability.

  • Our classes are taught by international instructors and are held in English.

However, we are able to accommodate some other languages, so don’t be afraid to enquire and we will do our best to help you out.
